Bound for Gaza...
She set sails, bound for Gaza ... Al-Amal Ship is carrying two thousand tons of food supplies, medicines and baby milk sent by Gaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation along with great hopes for the Palestinians to break the unjust blockade imposed on them since June 2007 and to allay their suffering.

A blockade imposed on wounded Gaza; it deprived 1.5 million people from their basic rights including freedom of movement and of living in normal conditions; it deprived them from education and health as 85% of them are below poverty line.

Al-Amal Aid Ship which sailed from Greek Lavrio port towards the port of Gaza on July 10th, 2010 after a one day-delay of its sailing date planned by the Foundation as a result of pressure exerted by other stakeholders is no way concerned with the confusion aimed to dissuade her from her fixed destination.

Determination and readiness amid threats ...
With escalated Israeli secret and public threats to intercept the ship, through waving to resort to military force in dealing with the Ship in the event she headed to Gaza or to have solidarity activists on board to change their destination, and to prevent any conflicting News on the Ship’s real destination, the Executive Director of the Foundation asserted in a released statement that Al-Amal sailed but its destination is neither El Arish nor Ashdod, but Gaza!

The Team on board proved their solidarity and determination by rejecting any Israeli proposals that would dictate Al-Amal’s destination; a message sent by the solidarity activists to Seif al-Islam Gaddafi, Chairman of Gaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation that we will never back away, but we are proud of this humanitarian action.

The Palestinians expressed their readiness to receive Al-Amal Aid Ship expected to arrive to Gaza on Wednesday, by equipping a number of boats designed to unload the vessel and distribute its aid cargo to Palestinians.

Humanitarian but not Provocative Action ..
To refute all the statements that have tried to raise doubts about the humanitarian nature of Al-Amal, Dr. Yousuf Sawani release a press statement to confirm "that what Al-Amal’s cargo is no more than purely humanitarian aid supplies and not aimed in any way to provoke or to stir the feelings of anyone, and that the international community should seize this opportunity to ensure the vessel's arrival to Gaza, and that the parties concerned are able to distinguish between humanitarian and peaceful acts and provocation; and that the primary goal of sending this aid ship is to consolidate the international effort aimed to break the Israeli siege on Gaza and to assert the international public opinion’s rejection of the Occupation’s practices, the starvation and blockade policies and bypassing of the international law".

The Wednesday of Hope
Forthcoming Wednesday; expected with lots of that Al-Ala docks in peace on the shores of wounded Gaza; a humanitarian action to save a tragic situation and an imminent winter that threatens with a real disaster, in the presence of more than four thousand injured Palestinians, and thousands of displaced Palestinian families; a critical situation that requires international action to provide basic humanitarian needs. Ships carrying humanitarian aid to Palestinians can in no way be a substitute for lifting the Israeli siege and forever, and to enable the Palestinians to regain their human rights; they are only a glimpse of hope to alleviate pain.
